In the south of Tenerife, bordering the sea, is the
Amarilla Golf and Country Club. From the first tee,
players are surrounded by a rich tapestry of
Canarian flora, and enjoy spectacular mountain and
ocean views.
The designer of the course, Donald Steel, has
taken advantage of the beautiful contours of the
Island and developed a course which runs between
deep ravines out towards the Atlantic Coast.
The most impressive part of the course is reaching
its peak on the 5th hole: this is truly a
gem for golf lovers, as the sea becomes part of the
fairway and must be crossed to reach the green.
Amarillia Golf was inaugurated in 1989, and a year
later it hosted the second Tenerife Open, part of
the European PGA Tour.
