Hotel description

This noble house, the origin of which goes back to 1800, is situated 3 km away from La Vega de San Mateo heading towards Tejeda, in the hamlet Caserío de La Lechuza. In "Las Calas" all the structural elements have been chosen in harmony with the architectural tradition of the area. The stone and the wood distil the rustic essence of the classical and the timeless, with ethnic brushstrokes of far- away cultures such as the Arab culture, present in the bas-reliefs and latticework of doors and windows and the rotundity of African art in the numerous sculptures that punctuate the lounges. The niches and masonry work furniture adapt themselves to the walls with great naturalness because of their rustic appearance, like the toasted yellow tone, the same as that which covered the original building more than two centuries ago.

Location

This beautiful hotel is located in the middle of the island between fascinating mountains. The distance to the airport is a 45 min drive - all golf clubs are reached from 15 min to 1 hours.

General information:

In "Las Calas" the peace of the vicinity entraps the traveller when he or she crosses the entrance to the hotel. The house is an explosion of life and colour with exuberant vegetation, and in its 2,000 square meters trees of different species alternate (plum trees, pear trees, orange trees, lemon trees, mandarin trees, almond trees, cypress trees, palm trees) with plants that flower during the different seasons of the year (arum lilies, lavender, hydrangeas, dahlias, camellias, rosemary, lilium). The estate is bounded by small areas of fruit trees and kitchen gardens. A place where it is easy to escape from the world for a few days, to succumb to the simple pleasures of life, to enjoy moments of silence, to diminish the rhythm of everyday life, returning to the equilibrium that nature gives us and of which we are a part.

Rooms

Each room has been designed exclusively. They are all fully equipped and combine designer equipment with antique furniture from the island with clear Arab influence. The decoration surprises, with pieces and materials brought from the most diverse corners of the globe, each room obtaining its own style and atmosphere. "Las Calas" has 9 rooms (4 Standard double rooms, 2 Designer Double Rooms, 1 Junior suite, 1 Junior suite with jacuzzi and 1 suite). Unique rooms, different in distribution, colour and personality, but identical in comfort and service. Nine different forms of comfort and convenience in one sole space.

Golf

You reach for example the Real Club de Golf in between 20 min by car - maximum distance of all golf clubs is a 1-hour-drive.

Catering

It is lunchtime and in the oven a pear tart is cooking. The aroma of the fruit and the sugar add charm to the enormous kitchen with its floor made of the heart of the canary pine tree - the same wood as the exposed beams on the ceiling. The Dining Rooms, exquisite, warm and friendly. At the stoves, Magüi, with affection and creativity, produces cooking with canarian and mediterranean roots. The thick Watercress Soup, a delicios Canarian Stew with vegetables from our own kitchen garden, marinated meat and other superb dishes, are some of the delights that can be tasted, accompanied by homemade desserts. The buffet-style breakfast, with natural products: homemade jam, fresh fruit juices, fruit from the area, sponge cakes, cheese from the islands, honey, gofio canario (ground-toasted cereal).
