Finca Cortesín offers an 18 hole championship golf
course, designed by world famous golf course
architect Mr. Cabell Robinson who worked many
years for the
Robert Trent Jones Group.
The course layout is simply spectacular. The main
features are the length of the course (6,808
meters) and the great variety of natural
vegetation including olive trees and corks.
The 18 holes are each completely different to the
next which makes playing very enjoyable.
Technically
speaking, it is important to emphasize the
following features: the Bermuda grass fairways
are very wide (up to 50m), the
bunkers are beautifully shaped and filled with
white marble sand. Tee boxes are high
quality (every hole has several tee platforms so
the player always finds them in perfect
shape). Without doubt, the greens are one of Finca
Cortesín jewels, they all have slight
brakes and can be extremely fast.
The Driving range, located next to the clubhouse,
has two levels for training: one with natural
grass (Rye grass) and the other with artificial
grass mats (20 bays). The range has four
greens situated at different distances to practice
all kinds of shots. The orientation of the
practice area is south-west to avoid hitting into
the sun at anytime of the day.
The Finca Cortesín Golf Club was founded with the
intention of becoming a reference in the Golf
world. The course measures almost 7,000 m. from
the black marker stakes, making it one of the
longest in Europe. It is a par 72 course, with an
average difficulty rating, although difficulty
will increase if the back markers are used. The
different teeing areas and the wide rolling
fairways allow most players to reach the green
easily. Harald Hurgan, the internationally
renowned landscape architect, collaborated with
Cabell Robinson, the course designer, on the
surrounding landscaping. Together, the two
designers have succeeded in preserving the natural
features of the area, establishing a balance
between natural grass, thicket and lawn.
