| The Grand Hotel Rimini, one of the Adriatic
Riviera's classic five-star hotels, dates from the
early twentieth century and has shared in the
periods of splendour and of decline that have
characterised the history of Italy. The Grand
Hotel was immortalised by Federico Fellini, who
featured it in many of his best-loved films and
thus brought it worldwide fame. In particular,
Fellini reproduced the matchless and overwhelming
atmosphere of the hotel in the film "Amarcord".
Over the years the Grand Hotel Rimini, which
stands in its own recently restructured park and
grounds, has retained its own special fascination.
Indeed, it has been recognised as a national
monument (1994) and is under the protection of the
Superintendency of Fine Arts. The entrance hall
and public rooms on the ground floor have already
been restored to their former splendour. All the
rooms are luxuriously furnished and still preserve
the original parquet floorings and Venetian
chandeliers.
